A Weekend Full of Mamas!

Cheers to the beginning of a new week! After a quick and activity filled week I’m excited to get back into the work week and make some moves! But before jumping into the week, you guys know my style: I like to look back over the weekend and share the good times. Shall we do another weekend vibes?!

Friday Night

Friday night after work I hit the gym with my cousin and then stopped by Whole Foods to get some of my faves (Mac and Yease, Baked Chicken, Macaronni and Cheese, and steamed veggies, — I know, not the healthiest meal but it’s from Whole Foods, so it’s kinda healthy.. right?)

After my workout and “healthy” post workout meal, I showered at home and then realized I wasn’t ready to begin the weekend as a weekend warrior so decided to stay in.. You know you’re adulting when you’re in bed by 9:30am on a Friday night!

Saturday

Saturday morning was go time. I needed to get an oil change so I headed to Valvoline, and then Ross to make some returns. After that I had to go to the mall (shakes head) but thankfully was able to get there as soon as it opened so I was in and out so fast! I ended my errands by stopping by Home Depot to make sure a return got handled correctly. Sigh! These errands were so minor that I just had to get them out the way first thing in the morning and I’m so happy I did.

After I finished running my errands I came home and decided to do a little spring cleaning/spring reorganizing. I completely flipped my living room and started reorganizing my closet. This time of the year brings me such immense joy because it’s literally a reason to rearrange everything in my house. I love it.

Rearranging made me sleepy so I took a nap then woke up to text messages from friends asking to hang. From there the weekend flew by. We decided to meet up in Hollywood at this rooftop bar called Mama Shelter (a cute swanky little hipster/hotel bar with some tasty appetizers / drinks —I def recommend trying this place out!) The wait to get into Mama Shelter was pretty long so we headed over to Trejo Cantina — which I cannot recommend.. — for some tacos and drinks. The menu sounded good but the taste was kind of mediocre. I can’t really rave about anything I had .. so we’ll continue on. After grabbing a bite to eat we headed up back up to Mama Shelter to claim a spot on the open couches.

Saturday Night

From Mama Shelter we headed to Mama Lion, a pretty much all Asian hip hop bar in Koreatown. The music was poppin, the bartenders were cool but something about standing in line for almost an hour to get in definitely killed our vibe. We danced or actually, two stepped as much as we could and then decided to call it a night.

Sunday Funday

Sunday morning was full of more errands and preparing to go to lunch for my mama’s birthday! I was so excited to see my mom on her birthday. As a child my mom would always sing “You are my sunshine” to me and my brothers. With this in mind, we got all of her gifts in the “sunshine” theme. It was so fun watching her open her gifts and also just so fun being around my family.

This was definitely a weekend well spent. I feel calm, filled with so much love and definitely ready to take on the week. Of course this weekend also came with having to mentally overcome a small little self worthless mood. On Sunday morning, after scrolling through Insta for too long, I started feeling “incompetent” when it came to others. In that moment I wanted to just eat my feelings away but I decided to dig a little deeper and pray. I prayed for confidence and that I would only uplift myself when it came to how I spoke to myself (you know, in my mind).

This crazy thing happened after my prayer.. right before I was going to go into Dunkin Donuts and order my fave donut and coffee, my cousin called me. She’s been holding me accountable lately when it comes to working out and dieting.. kinda. In that moment, I swore it was God because I had to own up that I was being weak and using food as an outlet.

I tell you guys this because I want you all to know that no picture or video on the internet will ever show the entire story. I have my hurts and hangups too that I deal with on the daily no matter what’s happening. This weekend I stayed kinda strong.. but I can definitely do better when it comes to my diet.

Overall it was a great weekend! Full of lots of Mamas ;) and I am ready for a great week!

Until next time my loves!!
